It appears as though some sanity might have found its way into the Supreme Court these past few years. This week the Supremes ruled that an Indiana law requiring photo identification at the polling place before a voter is allowed to cast their ballot was constitutional. With the ignorance and illogic usually manifested by lib'ruls, the plaintiffs argued that the Indiana requirement posed an undue financial hardship upon the elderly, the poor and minorities. Did I mention that Indiana identification cards are free? Even more astonishing was that three of the Justices, (who are all rumored to be law school graduates) agreed with the left's loony claims in the matter. Now some of you are asking why this is important and fortunately for you all, I'm here to tell you.

I stand behind no man in my regard for the Second Amendment. When examined in the context of our Founding Fathers' intentions, it is apparent that they favored an armed populace not only to ward off foreign enemies, but as a check on the natural tendency of government to expand beyond limitations a liberty loving people might place upon it. The Founders foresaw the potential of a tyrannical government and provided remedies. One of those, the more drastic of them, is the Second Amendment. The other remedy for government which does not represent the interests of the people is the ballot box. For most Americans, casting a ballot represents the greatest commitment they will ever make to the preservation of the Republic and they cannot conceive of the more drastic potential forseen by the Founding Fathers. Therefore it would appear as though the ballot is every bit as dangerous as a weapon if placed into the hands of the uneducated or criminal class. Since voting is obviously a grave responsibility it seems to me that before allowing someone to vote a couple of minor requirements be met. Fortunately for me, the Supreme Court of the United States would seem to agree.

You see the Supremes recently upheld an Indiana law that required voters to prove who they were by providing photo identification at the time of balloting. The democrats and their unholy agents in the ACLU howled, claiming that requiring photo ID "imposed an undue financial hardship" on women, the elderly and minorities. Naturally that would appear to be some of the democrat parties' strongest constituent groups. Let's examine that claim a little shall we. I would wager that almost everyone of you reading this possesses some type of government issued ID card. Those that do not, are probably too young to vote, too criminal to obtain a legitimate ID card or to stupid or lazy to find their way to the DMV. Of course stupid and lazy are descriptors often associated with some members of the democrat base. The claim was that a financial burden would be placed on these poor folks if they had to obtain ID. Why exactly is that? Indiana provides identification cards to all citizens free of charge. So what exactly is the financial burden? Perhaps the expense of gas to get to the DMV.

Now I'm willing to concede that the cost of gas imposes more of a financial burden each day. Of course two years ago the American people elected democrats to large majorities in both houses of Congress. With those majorities in place and the price of gas spiralling upwards, where exactly is that comprehensive energy bill Mrs. Pelosi? (D-San Francisco) Mr. Reid? (D-Nevada)...insert sound of birds chirping here....But I digress. The ACLU and their fellow travelers in the democrat party are incensed at the most minor of requirements for voting because it represents an inconvenience to their usual ability to stuff ballot boxes, deliver the votes of the dead, shanghai the homeless to a polling station and bribe them with Marlboros or to cajol muddle headed youth into a vote for a bottle of cheap busthead. One more reason the elitist democrats look down on flyover country. There's no profit in voter fraud in rural areas. We require ID to sell alcohol, to drive a car, to use our own credit cards, but to cast a ballot in defense of the Republic? Never! cry the dems, EVERYONE should have a ballot they say. Well I disagree. If you cannot be bothered obtaining ID, you probably can't be bothered to educate yourself about issues and frankly I do not want uneducated voters making determinations for me and my family. Educations is such a terrible thing to democrats, with all those facts and logic, they prefer emoting and indoctrination. No need to worry about dissent then. So everyone should vote. Even criminals. Can you imagine criminals voting for judges? Do you want some Crip gang members voting for City Council or perhaps setting drug policy for the Nation? This is what the democrats invite with their insane defense of no voter ID.

Speaking of felonies, many inner city voters are felons it would appear. Especially since the howls of protest in this case are so loud. Those democrat precincts in Philadelphia and Chicago that routinely turn out 105% of voters in each election might have to check the flow of enthusiastic voters. Perhaps by striking back at voter fraud, we might reduce the turnout. Yeah, it might only be 102% this year. Of course around these parts we all know that criminals have long been courted by the democrats. Now the democrats appear to be attempting once again to protect the interests of their base. What they don't want you to know is what particular group that is. The criminal element who routinely show up at polling places year after year, picking up their smokes and rotgut vodka on the way to betraying the Founding Fathers and their fellow citizens. You know, most legitimate Americans don't mind playing on a level field, as long as everyone plays by the same rules, what you can't trust about the left is how they always seem to have a different rulebook than everyone else.

So once again the Supreme Court has demonstrated why it is so necessary to keep a Republican in the White House. The three dissenters on the decision were Clinton appointees and a New England fraud who foisted himself on the American people pretending to be a judicial constructionist. At least with McCain, we'll have half a chance for decent Court appointees, what chance do we have with sHrillary or B. Hussein Obama?

It's almost summer here in the good ol' US of A, and not a moment too soon for many. Unfortunately, thanks to an incredibly feckless energy policy, a Democratic nomination process that is galactically absurd, and the continued travesty that is the global warming theory, legitimate Americans can expect to see many of the activities we've worked so hard to create marginalized. America's lazy approach to addressing the infusion of socialism in our dynamic system is now starting to host serious consequences. Thanks to the imbeciles comprising the Democratic Party, who boasted -- in 2006 -- they'd lower gas prices and save the world by licking toe jam from the feet of Islamic murderers, we're witnessing a campaign between a pandering socialist/racist/rank amateur and the wife of a disgraced, disbarred, and impeached former Arkansas governor.

Given those choices, Democrats can always turn to nostalgia for solace, currently manifesting itself in the form of Jimmuh Carter, who just spent a couple of days making himself, and the US, look like utter buffoons. Let's make it official -- this peanut farmer was the worst US president in history, followed closely by the husband of the current Democrat nominee from New York/Illinois/Arkansas/Pluto, and his legacy is cemented in abject failure. Do the Democrats, led by the incredible nincompoop Howard Dean, actually believe America needs or wants either of the two they've hoisted as the best of their best?

The problem legitimate Americans face is not our hard work and unending efforts to sustain a society that is the envy of this universe, but the patience and tolerance we've installed for abject failure. Somehow, we've allowed the worst among us to install themselves into positions of influence -- be those government, education, or some other social institution we've taken for granted. There can be no argument US energy policy -- an issue addressed here previously -- has been a shambles, thanks to onerous and antiquated legislative restrictions. We are being devastated by our inaction. Instead of tossing liberal bureaucrats into the proverbial septic tank of history, we've allowed them to virtually destroy our energy production capability, our education system, and our ability to prosecute legitimate military campaigns against verifiable and extraordinarily dangerous enemies.

If you believe your son or daughter should attend college and strive to obtain a Bachelor's degree in journalism, you believe that child will work in some form of media. You may rest assured that child may be considered for a high profile media role, only after being vetted by the liberal flacks that use those forums to advance their inane and self-defeating ideology. Should your child emerge from university level studies with his or her legitimate American status firmly intact, they will never get past the incredibly biased left wing choke hold on major markets. As long as those media outlets can attract viewers or readers, they will continue to shove legitimate Americans to other areas of technical or professional writing, and horde the media/education roles for themselves.

This, my fellow legitimate Americans, is the laziness I alluded to earlier. We've allowed these people -- for reasons becoming more and more unclear -- to create a bastion for themselves in positions of high visibility, and, unfortunately, where education is involved, great influence. Unless this tide is turned, the business of reporting or teaching fact over fiction, success over failure, etc. will become an inoperable tumor, slowly eating away at America until it weakens and collapses.

I certainly don't have a single qualm about the opinion of any editorial writer. Newspapers are chock full of pontificating liberal idiots -- check out the New York or Los Angeles Times, the San Francisco Chronicle, et. al. before lining your bird cage or wrapping disposable fish heads with them. Those crackpots are well paid to demonstrate their use of a thesaurus and distortion of facts. However, when those crackpots influence fundamental reporting that should be taking place, that's where legitimate Americans need to slam the door, preferably, on the heads of these "editorial giants". Who, what, when, where, how. Basic journalism. See if you can discover any of those traits in the next article you read about the incumbent administration or the campaign to destroy foreign enemies. You'll get -- I'll wager -- nothing but the partisan spin that poor young reporter is forced to submit, or be sent packing. Sell your soul for a byline in a major paper or TV broadcast?

They're doing it every day.

Time for a big shout out. It does one's heart good -- here in the land of the big Texican -- to know we have a delightful lady that is stepping up to aid law enforcement, general decency, and above all, sustaining the reputation Texas women have so skillfully crafted over the years. Rhonda Sue, a trusted friend and aid to the Lord's work being done by Brother Paul and Reno PD, is our legitimate American poster chic of the month. During one of my daily sorties to San Antone, I may have to treat her to a fine meal and beverages of her choice. That is, pending Brother Paul's approval of such consort. Knowing his penchant for the finer things, we can count on that approval provided with glee and haste.

Plus, having provided such a valuable service to cause, I may stave off future jabs by our devoted Reno brother where it comes to the annual Vegas football wagering/cigar smoking/adult beverage consumption confab due in October. Seems they have profited mightly from my long distance prognostications, and it's high time I gathered the fruits of my labor (raking in big cash for being so damned right about football all the time). If you're in Vegas next October, you may find us at a renowned sports book, consuming the aforementioned in mass quantities and debating the merits of IRS compliance.

Opinions are welcome, not always honored.

Uh-oh.

Seems the Reno chapter of Legitimate Americans for Truth is getting impatient with the process of accumulating worthy discussion topics here in the good ol' Lone Star State. Well, my dear friends, brothers, and sisters, fret no more.

Brother Paul identifies another -- of the thousands -- reason to send liberals on a long walk off a short pier. The gabbing moron, known in some circles as Speaker Pelosi, wants to encourage America's foes by chastising a devoted, effective military leader in the press. Of course, the press licks this stuff off the floor like a puppy going after kitty dung. Liberals lick this stuff off the floor like, well, liberals licking stuff off the floor. A cursory review of any left wing blog will reinforce that point, just in case you think we're being a bit too colorful in our depiction of left wing lunacy.

Let's cut to the chase. This country is teetering on the brink of full fledged socialism simply because a segment of America believes the institution is inherently flawed. We've touched on the energy problem, a point made crystal clear during the Congressional testimony of the oil company executives last week. While most of the floor licking Democrats sought to chastise those businessmen for the huge profits earned by those companies, legitimate Americans easily recognized the dilemma faced by energy producing companies. The failure of liberals to grasp the damage done to vitality and liberty -- enjoyed by all Americans, even the liberal waterboys -- by handcuffing US domestic oil production was clearly illustrated during those hearings. Yet, little truth emerged in the news accounts of those talks.

Oil companies make huge profits because their products are in very high demand. Furthermore, due to the efficiency of the business plans put in place by those corporations, their ability to acquire product, refine, and distribute same -- in this market -- makes those plans outstanding models for every aspiring business. But, if you talk to some idiotic liberal, profits made from the application of a successful business plan are somehow "evil" or "the product of a nefarious conspiracy". I challenge anyone to produce a single liberal corporation -- outside the circus of media/entertainment -- that can match the success of US oil companies. If liberals and their herds of boneheads want to really help the "victims" of an oil company's success, they should march on Washington and demand an immediate suspension -- if not outright repeal -- of the tax on motor fuels (watch the expression on your favorite liberal's face when you make that very logical and workable suggestion). As that liberal gasps for breath trying to justify a reason not to end the maddening practice of capturing huge chunks of energy revenue -- by an entity that does absolutely nothing to discover, produce, or deliver that energy -- throw another punch into his/her solar plexus. Ask them why food prices are being driven through the roof by the costs associated with "alternative" fuel processing (ethanol, etc.). If your carry that liberal's logic to its fullest, the rise in food prices -- harming American consumers on another misguided front -- is the "price" we pay for not living the stone age, abandoning mobility and efficiency for what history will prove to be a series of the most idiotic policy extensions in the history of this nation.

I openly advocate repeal of the tax on motor fuels. We all know most of the revenue generated by that tax was designated to the development and maintenance of America's interstate highway system. We also know the billions upon billions poured into federal coffers are being directed into other budgets. If every dime the oil companies paid in tax on motor fuels was directed to highway construction, we'd be driving on gold plated triple decked interstates. Since we seem to be unwilling to send the liberals in Washington packing, we see billions "re-directed" to other programs, none of which have a thing to do with fuel, highways, or anything remotely associated with American mobility.

Toll roads are popping up all over the country. Why should we -- American motorists -- be forced to pay duplicate rates for a road allegedly planned and funded by the billions taken in by tax on motor fuels?

If you say "Iraq", look in a mirror. The image you see is one of a stark raving moron.

We've covered the energy issue enough -- for now. I am amused and amazed by the sheer dishonesty of the campaigns being waged by the wife of a disgraced, disbarred, and impeached former governor from Arkansas and a pandering racist with unmistakable socialist leanings. Even more amusing and amazing are the reactions by some that think either of these two will do a single thing to improve those parts of our institution that merit improvement. We've expressed our opinion on the legitimate side of the political equation, and will continue to hold the conservative banner high as the election season approaches. Legitimate Americans need only to make the distinction between the carnival that has become the Democratic Party and the sensible, sometimes too accomodating, Republican Party. I have no doubt legitimate Americans will rise in massive numbers to end the madness hoisted by the Democrats this election year.

If not, watch this great and fabulous nation begin the death spiral into the pit of socialism that has robbed every great society of its vitality and liberty.

Damn Texicans, just when you think they might be reliable. Well once again I step into the breech in order to cover Spider Dan. After all we do need some activity around here to keep us more truthful than say the New York Times. Or as I like to call it, "Treason's Chronicle". I read today that the esteemed Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi is trying to show the American public what a man she is. She actually had the nerve, or should I say "cojones" to tell the American Commander on the ground in Iraq, General David Petraeus that he had better not testify before Congress next week that the situation in Iraq has improved. Ummm, does anyone out there see a problem here besides me? If the situation has improved, and we know damn well it has simply because the mainstream media was ignoring it completely until the most recent outbreak of violence, then the good General should report exactly that.

Had I not lived in such close proximity to San Francisco for so many years I might question the sanity of the voters there. The people responsible for electing such a power crazed wretch to such a position. Not only are her efforts just shy of treason, her conception of government is completely out of touch with anything the Founding Fathers envisioned. Unfortunately I know full well that Ms. Pelosi is exactly the kind of socialist bully and political thug that the citizens there want. Nanny state cradle to grave entitlements and freedom from anything resembling normalcy so that even the most outrageous and disgusting human behavior can be called acceptable. Thats San Francisco folks. Too bad too since the City has such beautiful views, a superior harbor and great climate.

None of which constitutes a basis for a congresscritter like Pelosi to dictate the contents of congressional testimony to a decorated American warrior. Much less one of our senior theater commanders, actively engaging an armed enemy of the United States. Someone out there please enlighten me, what exactly has the honorless Ms. Pelosi ever accomplished that benefitted America? Has she ever laid her life on the line for any American or American ideal? I thought not. Instead she bullies with words and bandies her power about. Pelosi's idea of fighting America's enemies is to refuse Republican sponsored bills to be heard in Congress or badmouthing the President and our troops. She may have reached the highest elected position ever held by a woman in the United States but her actions are that of a petty tyrant and no legitimate American would ever imperil our troops with their words or their deeds. Which simply demonstrates that Nancy Pelosi will never be considered a legitimate American, at least not east of the Central Valley.
